Made With Love From Me

Today I am cooking lunch for a number of people. The number is not known but could be somewhere between 20 and 30, then again, it could be more than 30 or less than 20!

I was preparing for it yesterday so that I had less of a rush today and can go into it feeling more relaxed. As I was preparing the meal, a one verse poem came to my mind and so I decided I'd make little cards to give to everyone with their meal.

This is the verse:

Today I have prepared this meal,

with love and prayers for you;

may you know God’s Precious Love,

and feel His blessing all the day through.

I have written pages and pages of poems at a time of deep depression and intend to write a book including some of them. I wanted to share this with you, because I mean it to everyone who reads it. Now I know that you are not necessarily eating the meal, especially for those of you in a different country to me, but if you were here you would be welcome. The sentiment is still the same whether or not you are eating.

It reminded me of a very special message from John's Gospel.

Jesus said, “for the Father Himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God.” John 16: 27

If you love someone, you will do anything for them. Sometimes we don't feel as though we are loved by those around us. Even in a crowded room we can feel very lonely and isolated.

Why?

I cannot say how long Lunch Club has been running for, but it is decades. It is there to give a hearty meal, of course it is, but it is also there to provide a warm venue with company. Dinner is served at 1300 and there is always a good atmosphere. Once a month Hunnaballs Bereavement Group also join Lunch Club.

Jesus told us to love one another many times. It was the second commandment He gave, to love our neighbours as ourselves. Our neighbour is not necessarily the one we live next door to, but it is anyone and everyone. We all need someone. Let us resolve today, to love our neighbour as ourselves. We don't all need to cook a meal for lots of people, but we can all do something for others every day. It need only be a kind word of encouragement or affirmation,# for example, but equally could be a deed of some description.
